How long does it take to earn a Black Belt?

Time all depends on the student. A regular student not involved with BBC or any other club takes about 4 to 5 years. Joining any clubs can shorten the time.


What is BBC?

Black Belt Club is made up of the most serious and dedicated students in the school. You can always tell one from the special black stripe on their belt. They are the example that all students strive to be. These students take what they have learned from the core curriculum and take it to the next level. Also they receive extra training including but not limited to: weapons, advanced katas, knife defense and knife fighting, gun self defense, advanced fighting techniques and more. Selection is limited and class size is capped. You must be a Green belt or higher to be a member. If you are interested, tell your instructor you want to be an example to the rest, you want to be apart of the BBC.


What is Team Xtreme?

The Team Xtreme is Bushi Ban’s top demo team. It is a requirement for members of Team Xtreme to be part of the BBC. Only the best of BBC will be considered for Team Xtreme. They are an elite group of highly athletic martial artists. Along with uncompromising martial art techniques, these members are trained to tumble and have dramatic flair. Competition and demos are what this team preps for. They have performed countless local demos and performed for some of the biggest crowds in Utah. What is Team T?

Team T is a class for younger and beginning students who have shown an interest in BBC. They train in basic demo team applications and tumbling. If you are considering going for BBC, this class will give you a big leg up.


What is Fighter’s Elite?

Fighter’s Elite / Basic Training is designed for adults looking for fitness, mixed martial art combat & self defense. For more detailed information, see the website.


What is Applications class?

Applications is a once a week class where students get to practice all the philosophy and theory in a contact situation. Students get to practice Point Sparring, Grappling, Kick Boxing, MMA, Self Defense, and more. All classes are supervised by a senor black belt and all students adhere to a strict policy regarding safety. This class is required for all students Green belt and higher. We have recently added a second kids Applications class on Thursday (5p-5:45p) because of the popularity of the class, and how big it has gotten!


What is Sparring and Grappling?

Sparring refers to using martial arts training in a controlled environment. Learning to strike and block in a one on one, or more training session. You will need sparring equipment/protective gear (purchase at front desk of AF dojo)

Grappling is learning to defend on the ground. We teach ju jitsu, wrestling and judo techniques to prepare if defending yourself goes to the ground. Submissions and tap outs are the main goal.
